Damon really helped change my perspective on money and my relationship with it. I never seemed to have enough of it to cover bills and minor leisure expenses. I began using radical means to keep up. I would frequent those Loan till Pay Day establishments, which put me even further in the hole with the outrages interest rates!

After a review of the month-by-month plan Damon mapped out for me, I discover that I had a significant surplus after the bills were paid. But I got a little nervous about Christmas. I started working with Damon at Ace Financial about 5 years ago.  At the time you would have thought I was living the American Dream.  A house that was 4000 sq feet, in ground pool, second home at the beach and a stay at home Mom.  But as we all know, things aren't always as the appear.  My marriage was in the midst of collapsing around me and financial stress set in quick.  The big house went up for sale and my credit took a turn for the worse. 

I was introduced to Damon while in the process of buying a town house.  He managed to secure a loan on my behalf, and while it may not have been the most desirable interest rate (due to my suffering credit), he took the time to give me financial advise on how to go about getting my credit back in line so that I could refinance later on down the line.  I stayed in touch with Damon over the years.  Some time past and I got remarried to a wonderful man.  About a year and a 1/2 ago we sought out Damon to help us refinance and to get some debt under control.  With my credit on an upward improvement, and my husband's excellent score, Damon was able to us a great rate.  Our lives were coming together quite nicely. 

About two months ago we decided it was time to go house hunting.  So naturally Damon was our choice to help us in this endeavor. We made an offer on a home, and much to our surprise the appraisal came in $24,000 under what we were going to pay.  Rather then trying to get the appraiser to change the numbers, and after discussing our options with Damon, we hit the streets and started our house hunting again.  We had already sold our house and had a settlement date scheduled, so we know time was of the essence.  Much to our surprise, we found a home that we absolutely loved.  Knowing that we were up against the clock, Damon scrabbled and set into high gear. 

The story takes a slight turn for the worse.   Just 4 days before our scheduled settlement, the mortgage company that we were going thru went belly up.  It had been in business for 25 years and no one saw it coming.  All of the approved loans that they have scheduled to close that week were turned away.  Knowing our desperate need to keep our closing date, Damon went into crisis mode.  The day before we were to sign the papers, we got word that we had an approved loan and we were good to go.  It's now two weeks since we moved into our new home. We absolutely love our house.  The kids our happy, the pets our happy, and Mark and I are happy.  Now when someone assumes I'm living the American Dream... They're right !!   

Our deepest appreciation goes out to Damon for getting us in the door as scheduled.  I would personally recommend Ace Financial !

My initial contact with Damon was on May 4, 2004, (I’ll bet Damon his paycheck that he doesn’t remember this email!) I contacted Damon after reading his column in The New Pittsburgh Courier each week. His articles are inspiring, brutally honest, and thought provoking. Nonetheless, I decided to email Damon before filing my Chapter 7 bankruptcy in July 2004, my bankruptcy was discharged in November 2004. I THOUGHT I WAS PRETTY SAVVY FINANICALLY… but Damon showed me I was just OK! In 2005, I decided that I needed to purchase a home just after one year out of bankruptcy! (How crazy is that with rates of about 12% for a current bankruptcy)

I went through a program that Damon just so happened to be the consultant of. (Go figure I still can’t get rid of this guy!!) Damon consulted with me as a backup to my lender. He found areas in my budget that still needed some assistance, areas I choose to ignore because I was blinded by the purchase of this home. I reviewed the "ACE Plan" and set it aside for a few days until I was ready to face the music. What Damon revealed was that I was not financially ready to purchase a home and that my credit situation could use more time to build. I want to say that I was reluctant to take Damon’s advice because I thought I knew everything! But God put Damon in the right place, at the right time, to maintain and restore my financial health, for that I am grateful.

P.S. I decided against the mortgage at this time, I will be patient and wait until Damon Carr aka "Mr. Ace" says I’m ready.

Ace Financial Services.... An answer to prayer

As with most "born again" believers, the experience of transformation and renewal includes a bittersweet journey down the road of sanctification. In being so graciously delivered from so many areas of separation and darkness, the divine spotlight was now shining on the area of finance. Ouch! The consequences of poor stewardship as a lifestyle issue can rob any child of God of their God given gifts of joy and peace. I am all to familiar, as with most Americans, of the biblical nugget of wisdom "The borrower is a slave to the lender ". Not a place that God wants any of His children to be in.

Enter in prayer...enter in Dave Ramsey...enter in Damon Carr... God is so faithful and He truly does respond to the cries of His children! However, repentance and restoration does involve corrective action. After listening on the radio to Dave Ramsey for one year, tracking my finances and attempting to try to figure out a rescue strategy, I was not getting to that place of "financial peace". I heard Damon's ad on the radio (can't sleep at night?) and took a leap of faith, out of the closet of shame and called him. After a very concise introduction regarding his services via phone he scheduled to meet with me within a week. First session, information gathering on my entire financial picture, damage assessment and establishment of short term and long term goals. All done in a very respectful and compassionate manner. Might I add, very comfortable as well to bear the demons within to! In the course of 3 days, my financial report and plan was completed for my review.

Using his expertise provided me with the clarity that I was not able to obtain attempting to do it on my own. He devised an extremely detailed, understandable and workable plan involving two possible approaches, time frames, budgets and outcomes. Clarity is what I prayed for and clarity is what I received. Praise God for His faithfulness and His faithful servants! We met for session two to review the plan, answer questions etc. I now have a strategic plan of attack to submit my finances to the divine principles of debt free living...do I need to tell you how great that place of obedience feels?

The Damon Carr Experience

I found out about Damon's service after reading an article he wrote in the Pittsburgh Courier paper about Mutual Funds. This caught my attention due to the fact that I was looking for a new investment company to invest with. After I finished reading the article I gave Damon a call. When Damon and I finally made contact I was surprise to learn that he did not sell mutual funds. He shared that he considers himself to be more of a Teacher or Financial Counselor. About a year ago things were really tight and we were referred to another financial planner. He seemed to have an understanding of our relationship and said he could help us. We trusted him. My ACE Financial experience...

I have been saying for years that I was going to get serious and clear up my credit and make my money work for me. Years ago in college, my friends, sorority sisters and classmates made fun of me because I purchased generic brand (Woolworth brands then) before the term "generic" became popular. Items like soap, lotion, deodorant, toothpaste etc. Although I could not afford pricey name brands at the time, I assured my colleagues that years later my teeth would be in better condition than theirs and probably my finances would too. They found my comments humorous at the time. As our paths have crossed over the years, they refer to my comments with a more in sync attitude. You see, it was not important which toothpaste I purchased, what was important was that I regularly brushed.

I trashed the paper, but I saved your article. It is valuable most to those of us who follow and have followed your recommendations: Live below your means, use credit wisely and pay yourself first. In order to do that you must make sacrifices, discipline yourself and have patience.
